Belief. Discipline. Sacrifice

I have accomplished things about which many, including I, could have only dreamt.
I owe some of it in part, to a few encouraging words spoken to me by my ninth grade math teacher.
Mr. Thomas observed in me something I did not see in myself. His spoken words of affirmation ignited me to higher heights, planting a seed which would later enable me to soar over hurdles at world record speeds and become, for a time, a living legend in the heralded sport of track and field.

My faith in God, instilled in me by my parents at an early age, an ultimate desire to show myself approved by Him has sustained me throughout my life and career. I have had many victories during my life for which I am most grateful. And even my defeats I now see as victories as I reflect on how they have shaped and molded me to become on the inside what the masses have labelled me to be on the outside.

Through these pages I will be sharing my life experiences on my own terms. Raw, reflective and conversational. Sharing those lessons and memories as I personally recall them with you. So, here I am, inviting you to journey with me back in time and forward to the present. A sharing I hope, will enlighten you into the layers of a young man who only wanted to make his mother proud. A mother who passed before she ever got to see him grow into manhood. A mother who instilled into her son not to ever let anyone tell you what you can't do. If man could think it, man could do it. Basically saying when you look outward, you're dreaming. But, when you look inward, you're awakening.

Which leads to the scripture "Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world”
1 John 4:4
